Clone Wars: "Pursuit of Peace"

I just watched the most boring episode of Clone Wars ever. I'll sum up the central conflict for you: "Can Padmé give an effective speech to the senate?" Yes, really. I could have just switched over to C-SPAN instead.

I guess somebody realized this might not be enough to fill an episode of a program that supposedly takes place in the Star Wars universe, so a couple of bumbling robot thugs try to shank Padmé before her speech, yet somehow she escapes. Then the following dialogue occurs:

SOMEBODY: "Should we alert the Jedi council?"

PADMÉ: "Nah, we wouldn't want anything exciting to happen in this episode."

Maybe they're trying to conserve lightsaber batteries? Maybe Anakin is recovering from "tennis elbow" this week? I don't get it... but this sure isn't what I tuned in for. The way every episode abruptly wipes to the credits at the end doesn't help me from thinking this was somebody's subtle joke.

Update: It turns out there are many boring episodes of Clone Wars. I'm afraid I might still be watching only for the jailbait. The computer-generated jailbait. I am so perplexed by the intent of this series that I have to ask: Is Clone Wars considered canon?
